Steel City Tool Works 40200H Review
Just as good as its elder sibling, the 40300H benchtop planer.
About the Steel City Tool Works 40200H
The 40200H planer was definitely designed with home owners in mind. It is a small sized (approximately 90lbs) planer that is very easily portable. It is quite, pocket friendly and it does work that heavy built planers can accomplish. The 40200H has spiral wood cutters and even though some wood workers would advise against purchasing of small sized planers; this should definitely be an exception because its size is only for convenience but the features are quite satisfying.
The 40200H machine is quiet and its dust collection is great it works well on cedar, hickory, oak, pine and maple; both hard and soft wood. This machine is convenient and very easy to move around. It works well for both professional wood workers and amateurs. It has long support tables, which fold upwards when not in use. This is a good thing because it storage easier and in the process it increases its life span.

Another good thing about this machine is that the cutters are convenient and quick to replace if they get damaged.
If you work from home what you need to know about this machine is that it is small in size but it has all the features of a bigger planer. It will save you space in your garage, which basically means that you that you can accommodate more power tools.
Conclusion:
The overall performance of this machine is great although minor tear-out is seen on some hard woods. I would, however, recommend it to everyone. Not only does it works as well as heavy built machines but it also saves on space and price. It goes for around $600 and at this price, you simply cannot find another equally endowed planer. It is a machine that is definitely worth its weight in dollars!
